Read this story to your children before you bring them to their first dental visit. My daughter, Liddy, loved her first visit to Cranford Dental.
We hope that by sharing her story, she will help make your child’s first dental visit a breeze! Take Liddy’s word for it – going to the dentist is FUN!
I went to the dentist today!
Hello! My name is Liddy. I am 2 years old. My daddy took me to the dentist today. I had so much fun! When we got to the dentist’s office, the lady at the front smiled and was happy to see me.
Another nice lady came and called my name.
We walked down the hall to a room with two chairs in it– a little chair for Miss Debbie to sit in, and a big chair for me! I climbed into the chair, and Debbie pushed buttons to ride it up and down and forward and back. It was fun!
Debbie had an alligator stuffed animal and a big toothbrush to show me. I got to help brush his teeth. He had A LOT of teeth.
Then it was my turn!
Miss Debbie let me wear sunglasses. She had a tiny mirror that she used to look in my mouth.
She had a tiny little tooth counter that she used to touch and count my teeth. Can you believe I have TWENTY teeth? Miss Debbie said my teeth are STRONG because I brush them everyday.
Next, she brushed my teeth
Miss Debbie let me pick my toothpaste. I picked strawberry. She used her purple toothbrush. It tickled and it tasted delicious!
She had a little water squirter and a tiny straw called Mr. Thirsty that helped her. I didn’t always like kissing the straw, so sometimes she let me spit in a cup.
My teeth felt smooth and clean when she was finished.

The dentist came and counted my teeth.
I am a lucky girl because my mommy is also my dentist. She came into the room and talked to me about my teeth. She was proud that Miss Debbie said I did a good job.
Mommy looked a little bit different than she does at home: she was wearing a white jacket, a pair of funny glasses, and some gloves. She used her little mirror to look in my mouth.
Dr. Mom was proud that I was still and kept my mouth open while she counted my teeth.

The best part of the dentist was the prizes!
I did a great job at the dentist! I listened to Miss Debbie when she told me to open and close. I was still for her while she tickled my teeth. Going to the dentist was a fun time.
Miss Debbie gave me a new Minnie Mouse toothbrush, some toothpaste, and floss. She let me pick two prizes from the prize closet.

I can’t wait to go back to Cranford Dental!
My teeth were strong because I brush them every day and eat healthy foods. Miss Debbie wants me to come see her again when I am 3. I can’t wait! I had a fun time and my teeth feel good.
Thank you for reading Liddy’s story. We can’t wait to meet your child!
